‘MooseBox’, South African Made And Ready For Nickelodeon [Video]

As part of Nickelodeon‘s International Animated Shorts Program 2013, South African animator Mike Scott has had his 2 minute masterpiece, MooseBox, finally chosen for development. Out of hundreds of entries worldwide, Mike Scott wowed audiences with this 8-Bit animation that I can only describe as weird and explosively hyperactive.

You might recognise Mike Scott’s distinctive character and animation style in MooseBox, because this is the guy that did a lot of work for Goldfish’s music videos. I think cartoons in general have had a lot of free rein concerning how absurd they can be – how often have we looked at Adventure Time or Regular Show  asking ourselves “How the hell are kids allowed to watch this?”. I’m not complaining though, I think it’s great how shit is just getting way too crazy and trippy for my own good. Maybe not in a stoner-humour-lolwut-braindead Adult Swim kinda way, but I’m all for best friends rescuing princesses while blowing shit up.

Big ups to Mike Scott for working his ass off and impressing Nickelodeon, because I can only imagine what a dream that’s gotta be for any animator!
