Sónar is a rather big deal but, since it was always more of a Cape Town event, there wasn’t much of a reason to get all that excited here in Jo’burg. Whoops that’s wrong. Seed Experiences has brought the best of the best for the Jozi leg of the show and I’m gonna drop a couple reasons why you should all be lining up to buy some tickets right now.
With Sónar you get a certain pedigree of artist. The lineup for the event shows this because, well, it is just plain amazing. Specifically in Cape Town. I mean look, Jon Hopkins and Ten Walls are worth the price of entry alone. Let’s not even get started on the jaw dropping local lineup. Sadly, Joburg is only getting the headliners… yeah no, it’s not sad at all. Sweet Lord it’s actually rather glorious. Pet Shop Boys, 2manydjs and The Bloody Beetroots will be preforming live at this year’s event and there’s pretty much no better news than that.
On the 12th of December at the Nasrec Expo Centre, we are in for a very special treat. 30 years of music is something very few artist have under their belts these days and with so many classics we can only be excited. The Dewaele brothers are also set to make their first South African appearance, which I know they have wanted to scratch off their list for years, and we could not be luckier as 2manydjs are going to set the high standard of the European DJ scene. Lastly, we have The Bloody Beetroots who will be returning, as they played a show here about six years ago. Jeez. It’s been six years. Only difference is that they will be playing live and that in itself is something very interesting. But I think Pet Shop Boys pushed this event into the ‘must go’ column for me.
I mean, we all just have to hear at least one of these three songs:
You can buy your tickets for A Taste of Sónar in Johannesburg here. Like I said, it’s happening at the Nasrec Expo Centre on Friday 12 December 2014.
The General Pass is R595 and the PRO Pass is R895. Supporting acts are going to be announced soon and here’s hoping that list includes Jon Hopkins…
