Track of the Day: The xx – Angels

A while ago, we posted some new tracks that The xx were playing at a live show that didn’t even have official names to them yet. These tracks were off of their new and upcoming album: Coexist, due for release in September and already up for pre-order. ‘Angels‘ (the official name!) is the first single and introduction to Coexist and it brings back a romantic reminiscence of their previous, debut album. It’s an understated song that leaves you craving more, those last lines ‘being as in love with you as I am‘ gives me shivers every time I listen to it.

The track listing from the album is also included in this post, so jump already!

The xx Play a New Track Live

The xx tried out some new tracks during their show at the Battersea Arts Centre in London recently. This is one of them captured on video and I don’t think it really has a name yet. People are labeling it ‘As I Am‘ and although the video quality isn’t great, it’s a great sneak peek as to what’s in store for their next album – which is apparently inspired by club music because of the band constantly being on tour while their friends were having a jol. This new untitled track shows that The xx have maintained their unique minimalist sound, so don’t fret thinking they have switched to a ‘doof-doof uhn-tiss uhn-tiss’ vibe.
