A Frame-by-Frame ‘Blade Runner’ Remake, but in Watercolors

Yes, you read that right. Youtube user andersramsell is remaking Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner in its entirety, doing what he calls a “paraphrase” of the film. And he’s doing it entirely in watercolor “aquarelle” paintings! Scott’s already known for layering his films – from Gladiator to Prometheus – with amazing visuals, but this guy is taking things to a whole new level. ‘Prometheus’ is all about Your Genitals [Review]

So the way the Greek myth goes, Prometheus is the guy who stole fire from the gods and gave it to mankind. It would be foolish to assume director Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Gladiator) could pull off something similar, handing Hollywood a flaming 3D beacon of “This Is How You Do It, guys”, but with this sort-of-but-yeah-totally-prequel to his 1979 film Alien, he damn well tries. Reviews are coming in steaming hot or colder than your nipples on a Jo’burg day in June, and I can totally see why. It’s because while Prometheus isn’t Hollywood sci-fi’s “second coming”, it does do a lot that Hollywood hasn’t done well in a while, and that alone is worth the price of admission.

Happy Birthday David – A ‘Prometheus’ Viral [Video]

So far there’s been some pretty cool marketing going on for Ridley Scott’s new sort-of-but-not-really Alien prequel, Prometheus. Besides the trailers, which are filled with quick cuts that don’t reveal any story details but show off some very epic-looking images, there’s also been that great TED talk set in the year 2023, starring Guy Pearce as the character he’ll be playing in the movie, Peter Weyland. This latest one, though, warms all the parts of my body that respond positively to Michael Fassbender. He’s playing the android David and this one’s a sort of commercial for The Weyland Corporation’s latest version of David; an ad we likely won’t see in the movie. The clip follows after the jump.
